Looks like the Chinese love their jeans these days! But are connotations to laughable matters based on experience and perception?

Honestly, I first thought that the building design was creative and cool. After I saw the article that showed people's reactions, I soon connected its design to jeans. So my KI is, to what extent are we responsible for causing others to notice the difference?
